Mi piace ricordarlo cosi’, come l’ho conosciuto dal vivo la prima volta Perugia UJazz 2005 con Ulf Wakenius alla chitarra in una sera di estate fresca e magica. Il testo della canzone e’ di Elvis Costello scritto per il suo ottantesimo compleanno sull’omonima ballad bellissima che ci regalo’ quella sera anche praticamente con la sola mano destra che riusciva a suonare. La voglia di vivere e di giocare e di meravigliarsi che usciva prorompente da quella mano e da quella mutilata dall’ictus che riusciva a suonare solo bicordi, la dolcezza della voglia di vivere e di continuare a suonare nonostante tutto.

Quest’anno mi ha accompagnato negli spostamenti un Ipod da 30Gb una responsabilita’ riempirlo e scegliere quei tremila e passa brani che mi devono accompagnare, non ho cambiato molti dischi in quanto 3000 brani sono un mare di ascolti, oceani di note, ore di ascolto.
Ho quasi sempre ascoltato tematicamente tranne nel viaggio da Pisa a Taranto in macchina ho messo la riproduzione casuale e riscoperto con gioia almeno 4 ore di musica.
Stasera ripercorrendo l’ipod ho preparato una playlist di piano solo, scegliendo alcune cose che a mio avviso sono imperdibili nel piano solo. Naturalmente troppe cose rimangono fuori (tenendo presente anche il fatto che e’ fatta solo con i solo piano che ci sono sull’ipod). Ma e’ una playlist che rappresenta il mio gusto per il piano solo (quello che qualcuno ottusamente qualche tempo fa defini’ un gusto conformato…).
La lascio qui per fornire dei consigli di ascolto e perche’ rappresenta bene questo mio anno di ascolti nuovi e vecchi, uno degli infiniti percorsi possibili nel piano solo, un percorso parziale e di parte, la mia via al piano solo in questo periodo.
Ho scelto come onair la versione di When i fall in love di Bill Evans, un vero capolavoro di dolcezza ed essenzialita’, un viaggio nel cuore del brano, un viaggio nel cuore della musica, nel cuore dell’essenza del piano solo.
