You and the Night and the music

There are well-known standards, with a number of interpretations almost impossible to know precisely, and pieces are fascinating because they 'have a complex history, cherished by many hands, and almost every new version provides new aspects to these songs. They are so famous songs to make you forget the paternity ', the composer of the song that created it. You and the Night and the music and' one of these the author Artur Schwarz, truly interpreted by all the most 'all-time great.

From the countless interpretations of Chet Baker, Bill Evans recorded in those sessions on Riverside, Stan Getz and even John Abercrombie, Dave McKenna, Art Pepper, Art Blakey, Hellen Merril, Frank Sinatra, Bob Berg, Tai and of course Keith Farlow Jarrett could not escape the charm of a song like this.

I have chosen a less popular version of this piece played by Enrico Pieranunzi in duet with Phil Woods on the hard Elsa of course with that of the hard Jarrett At tbe deer head inn, which still represents the quadrature of the circle, the synthesis of all previous versions always represent the true and simple thin piece of heart, the soul that always exists within a standard. The version of Pieranunzi and Woods shines the light of the alto sax of Phil Woods, who is full of swing and lyricism without ever falling into the traps of musical rhetoric, accompanied by Pieranunzi and solid and gives space to the right sax for Woods develop the theme and improvisation, once an almost forgotten that added something to the history of this song and 'really picked up by the hands of Jarrett, and that' almost a historian of the musical form of jazz with his perennial work search of that wonderful material that are jazz standards.

You And The Night And The Music (A. Schwarz, H. Dietz)

You and the Night and the music

Fill me flaming desire

Setting my being Completely on fire

You and the Night and the music

Thrill me but will we be one

After the night and the music are done

Until the pale light of dawn and in daylight

Hearts will be throbbing guitars

Morning will come without warning and take away the stars

If we must live for the moment

Love 'til the moment is through

After the night and the music die

Will I have you?

Until the pale light of dawn and in daylight

Hearts will be throbbing guitars

Morning will come without warning and take away the stars

If we must live for the moment

Love 'til the moment is through

After the night and the music die

Will I have you?

  1. You know that I love Van Gogh's Starry Night? (.. This framework should be pear ² a less known, or a reproduction) .. However, the image that you referenced is really suited to this piece ... the rest of the country sleeping in the night and the disruption of the harmonious heaven .. where everything changes and evolves over himself ... expands into the starry swirls .. is magic .. power .. poetry!

And this piece is the sky ..

I love the version of Stan Getz with Bill Evans, Eddie Gomez and Marty Morell.

In the intro, which follows the beautiful version of The Peacocks (the most beautiful I've ever heard!) Stan Getz plays "Happy Birthday" to Bill Evans (August 16 and had to be!) And says "Happy birthday, Bill" ! Follows the intriguing swing You and The Night and the Music. It is said that St. Getz wanted to be forgiven by Bill Evans for having Stan's improvised blues without first trying it out together, or at least informed. Bill Evans, in fact it was ¬ is pissed at that song only plays 4 notes and then just beginning!

    Hello Mr. Quoyle ..

quoyle hello! Always on time and your beautiful evocations of the standards and increasingly educated and charming your readers involved with anecdotes, as does Pannonian in this case. Bill holds a grudge. Cool. How to make music with their hands in their pockets!
