Anouar Brahem - Astrakhan Cafe (the window)
This morning in the car, gray sky, not really good mood, grab a grunt before leaving a disc at random and Astrakhan Cafe is a Tunisian oud player Anouar Brahem.
The cafe ', a place of peace, to exchange gossip in tranquility', relax, an oasis where you can find refuge from the frenetic daily thoughts. This disc offers just this oasis of tranquility 'expansive spaces, warm atmosphere, the smell of oriental spices, a cafe' where Tunisian hot to let go of thoughts.
The traveling companions are Barbaros Erköse the clarinet and the Lassad Hosni bendir and darbouka typical oriental percussion. The time is always very broad, the drumming is always a pleasant background that adds color more 'rigidly to mark the time.
The choice of instruments and 'perfect for a coffee' that respects, and all 'for staying in the background, providing a nice carpet on the relaxation of the guests entering the coffee'. Brass, surely disturb the tranquility of the place, while the heat of a clarinet with this magic carpet of percussion and sound so 'oud and especially' the perfect place to stay at a window of the bar watching the world go out in the suspended time with a cup of coffee in front of 'hot and spicy.
The music speaks of distant stories, those stories that are told in the bars of the border, and perhaps the gray color of the cover, perhaps the shade ', and slightly melancholy twilight, just recall the gloomy day this morning, but without enhancing its melancholy side' , leaving only the window of this bar to suspend the thoughts and look at life from that slightly hazy glass of Astrakhan Cafe.

Beautiful, beautiful. I love the oud of Anouar Brahem and I love this record, but I find even more wonderful "Thimar" with a gorgeous John Surman on horns that binds beautifully with the sounds of Brahem. Then I also "Conte de l'incroyable amour" and "Madar" all fascinating. It 'no use: the ecm is a record company that produces pure jewels. Hello
I was in Tunisia last September and I remember their coffee, and not just for tourists. I remember the smell of cinnamon, mint tea, mixed with that of coffee and smoke coming out of those pipes, which they call "chica".
Yes, the smell is absolutely the most sense stimulated, Laggia ¹ .. Perhaps that is why the hearing is set to stand by their purely rhythmic music without harmony and melody with a barely visible.
