Richie Beirach - Adagio Jazz
I close the year with a review, music I've heard so much this year, pretty much, and I often 'was too hard to find words to describe it.
Last record of this extraordinary pianist, a disc from the great intensity 'emotional. I have a weakness for Venus Records label discs, are all so 'wonderfully introspective, from the cover art for insight into the perfection of sound and in intensity' emotional execution. Beirach is not 'new to classical music, it shows clearly in the latter work, rereading that opens and closes the record of the adagio of Mozart's Piano Concerto in A minor KV488 proves it.
In this album there are also hints from the Prelude No. 4 by Bach and Scriabin's Prelude N.4, as well as valuable interpretations of jazz standards like My Funny Valentine and For All We Know. I love the piano and opened Beirach lyrical, lyrical and sometimes cryptic, cryptic as are the places of our soul, an album of great pathos, but how could it be otherwise when the journey of this pianist was opened with the record made in Hubris Seventies soul by another label like ECM.
Listening to the magic of Mozart, a magazine with wonder, introspection and soul of discretion Richie Beirach, listening and breathing, listening and I am posting this hard year. That 2010 will be light.

Life on mars

It's a god-awful small affair
To the girl with the mousy hair
But her mummy is yelling "No"
Told her and her daddy has to go
But her friend is nowhere to be seen
Now she walks
through her sunken dream
To the seat with the Clearest view
And she's hooked to the silver screen
But the film is a saddening bore
For she's lived it
ten times or blackberries
Could she spit in the eyes of fools
As They ask her to focus onSailors fighting in the dance hall
Oh man!
Look at Those cavemen go
It's the freakiest show
Take a look at the Lawman
Beating up the wrong guy
Oh man! Wonder if he'll ever know
He's in the best selling show
Is there life on Mars? It's on Amerika's tortured brow
That Mickey Mouse
has grown up a cow
Now the workers
have struck for hunger
'Cause Lennon's on sale again
See the mice in Their hordes million
From Ibeza to the Norfolk Broads
Rule Britannia is out of bounds
To my mother, my dog, and clowns
But the film is a saddening bore
'Cause I wrote it
ten times or blackberries
It's about to be writ again
As I ask you to focus on

My wild irish rose

My Wild Irish Rose,
The sweetest Flow'r That grows,
You may search ev'rywhere,
But the ninth canon appears
With My Wild Irish Rose.
My Wild Irish Rose,
The dearest Flow'r That grows,
And some day for my sake,
She may let me take
The bloom from My Wild Irish Rose.
