Maiden Voyage

Martedi’ sera riordino la mia collezione di dischi; mi capita di farlo nei momenti di stress emotivo.Certi lo considererebbero un modo stupidissimo di passare una serata, ma io non sono fra quelli. Questa e’ la mia vita, ed e’ bello sguazzarci in mezzo, immergerci le braccia dentro, toccarla.

Ma quello che mi piace veramente e’ il senso di sicurezza che mi viene dal mio nuovo sistema di archiviazione; mi sono fatto piu’ complicato di quel che sono in realta’. Siccome possiedo un paio di migliaia di dischi, devi essere me – o almeno un dottore in Flemingologia – per sapere come ripescarli. Per esempio se vuoi sentire Blue di Joni Mitchell, devi sapere che lo comprai per regalarlo a qualcuno nell’autunno del 1983, ma che poi decisi di tenerlo io, per ragioni di cui adesso preferisco non addentrarmi. Bhe sono storie che non conosci, per cui non sai dove mettere le mani vero? Dovrai chiedermi di trovartelo io, e per qualche ragione lo trovo enormemente confortante. (Nick Hornby Alta fedelta’)

Da questa riorganizzazione e’ venuta fuori questa meraviglia assoluta di Herbie Hancock un inedito in Amburgo del 1993, ancora Herbie Hancock che quando vuole riesce a creare panorami onirici, aperti, sospesi, come in questa incredibile introduzione.
